Summary[]
An alien convict, the bluebird of happiness, escapes from his prison and comes to Tomobiki to continue his dedication to grant people's wishes with only outrageous results.

Differences from the manga[]
The plot is essentially the same with anime original scenes. In the manga:
- Right after the bluebird escapes and the space cops go on his trail, it jumps to him starting to grant the students' wishes wrongly.
- Lum recognizes the bluebird after their first encounter and makes the announcement to the students.
- After Mendō and Ryūnosuke both with their genders altered chase after Ataru and Mr. Fujinami, Lum finds the bluebird on the school roof and the space cops catch him then gives Lum a flamethrower to burn all the feathers off of the students heads, but the students run away with one shouting he'd rather be unhappy than burned and Ataru shouting he's not happy enough.
