Nup, I haven't forget it yet, just don't have inspiration to edit this wiki. .w. Moreover, I have exam tomorrow and the next days, and Malaysia is having a big trouble: Malaysia Airlines plane lost in radar, some countries tried to help Malaysia in search of the missing plane, and it's still can't be found...
Yeah, my internals (more like a mock test) are over. The main exams start on 27 March. One more year and my bachelor's course is done! :) I'm good, thanks Sango-chan. I hope you're too. How are the studies going?
=~= Fine for now, quite tiring sometimes. But in the meantime I just hope that the plane can be found as soon as possible, no matter how did the plane become, or if the passengers aren't here anymore. Well, half of the reason is came from the airlines fault (which they didn't inform the missing plane after 30 minutes instead 5 hours later), the other half reason is the God's will. I'm feeling bad for those families who worried and upset for many days, and I feel bad as a Malaysian, if you understand my meaning. :\
Hello, Andoroido! Thank you for contributing this wiki, and as you know I'm one of the admins of the UY wiki, Sango. I used to edit the pages since I was first introduced to this wiki. But nowadays I less making contributions because my signature wiki, Chinese wikis currently have an official staff, that makes the related wikis more active than usual. I have to keep my eyes open to avoid spams and vandalism. So if you have any questions that bother you, you may ask Ryoga04 or me. :)
Ah, I see. My semester starts today, but I'm not feeling well and I didn't go :) Hope everything turns out okay by tomorrow. And, good luck with your assignments. Use your hiraikotsu to sweep them away :D
I'm taking pills now, so I guess it's okay. Apparently I have developed a throat infection and the doc prescribed some antibiotics. Sigh. Thanks for the words Sango-chan :) Yeah, once I had this migraine and god it was awful. I couldn't even walk properly and when I got home, I threw up. Yay, lol. It was awful.
LOL, you still managed to LOL. XD Truthfully, I have a terrible antibiotic nightmare. While I was a kid, I always sick and absented the class almost every week. Mom took me to see the doctor and offered me some antibiotics, oh man, even I grow up I still remember the smell of orange antibiotics. +_+ After I intake those antibiotics, I gave some advises to mom that I need to change them into traditional medicines. So until now, even it's been a long time, I still like to choose the traditional medicines than antibiotics. My dad recently also falls sicks, so he doesn't go to work for 2 days. :v
Haha, thanks. Forgot to mention, I also tackled with a classmate of mine and we both fell down. I didn't even feel the pain due to the intense migraine. Just thinking about it makes me shiver. I have a very nice connection with antibiotics - an on and off connection. You could say it's like Godai's and Kozue Nanao's relationship. If I get an infection, antibiotic is a must. Otherwise, it won't go away. You might have heard of Ayurveda? It's effective sometimes too. Homeopathy doesn't work on me. Allopathy's the boss btw :D
Finally, the wiki's revamped. All that's left are infoboxes. I already did something to Infobox animanga character. Will you be able to take a look and make any necessary changes to it? I think the colors could be changed as they look a bit dull at the moment (don't they?). Oh, the file Lum transparency background.png. Do you have the real version of it? Can you upload that? I want to create a theme for Monobook too :) Also, if possible, can you fix the episode, ova, chapter, and movie infoboxes the same way as well? Also, in the Obstacle Swim Meet title card, there's a chibi Lum. Do you have an HQ version of it? Arigatou, Sango-chan! :D
I will take some look and change some patterns (if necessary) on those infoboxes, but I can't make it immediately because right now I kinda busy with my other wikis. I didn't expect that the Wikia Community Central Chinese version started to have a staff from San Francisco, in order to keep things have a better settle, I was becoming an admin of that central after several days, and that wiki activated suddenly with some "customers" asking and editing around. @_@ In order to attract more Chinese wikians, especially from China, I was asked to write some blogs about CSS, templates [...]. And it doesn't mean that central is crazily activating, some Chinese wikis also affected with that insane activation, so I had to check my wikis.
And not just like that, few weeks later a member Yatalu was asking me about joining the WLB and became a translator for Malay language and Chinese. I was wondering should I accept this quest or not since the Chinese Community Central is very active, and I will take some time to think about it. :\
Okay, about the picture of Lum, I have the original one but I removed the white background from it and changed into .png many months ago. You can check it at the uploaded photo section. :v And about the chibi Lum from the latest OVA, I believe I didn't have HQ version and it was the only one that I have, it also available at Chinese version UY wiki. Perhaps you can reedit that photo and make it looks nicer. :B
Thanks for uploading the file Sango-chan and also for linking to that chibi Lum :)
Wow, you're given a great opportunity. Go for it! You should become the translator for Malay and Chinese language. And, wow, you're the admin of Chinese Community? That's awesome. And by 'activity', I'm assuming you're referring to a new users flood? Spammers included? Anyway, congrats! My semester exams start tomorrow and I'm really scared, lol. Talk to you later :)
My comment is some of the infoboxes should be redesign, and also I discovered a unique template from somewhere else can be automatically display when somebody needs to leave a message on the talk page without manual, but I dunno how did they make it. :v
Shall we collect the images needed for the BG, header and so on. If you look at the Toriko Wiki, you'll see how we can arrange the Main Page in a different way (I love the 'pop-up' links to Episodes, Characters etc.). We should find an image (or images which can combined) for the header. I wonder how they added the icon to the search box :O Btw, do we need a new wordmark or favicon? As for the infoboxes, we should update them as well, shouldn't we? However, most importantly, we keep everything classy and 1980s ;) What are your thoughts?
I think those pop out links and the search box picture are from the MediaWiki. I tried the header one earlier at InuYasha Chinese wiki [using MediaWiki:(forgot the name again :P)], but the most important thing is the logo should be spick and span so that you wouldn't see any "debris" from the header. :v Logo and favicon can be changed, but I would like to choose a simple favicon so that anyone can sees it clearly and not complicated. Lastly, making this wiki become 1980s style is awesome! >w< But how to make it classy? Another question was born again.
Yes, the whole look of the wiki depends on CSS and JS ;) 1980s was full of bright colors and weird (but cool) fonts and styles. We have to find a way to add that to the wiki. We'll ask Joe for pointers on how to do it. Oh, we could add a bit of image noise to the background and weird shapes to get that effect!
Hehe, it sounds like we gonna have a 1980s retro style for this wiki. :P I will have some refernces from the websites, but this will be postponed until my semester exam is over. >w< I can't "stick" too long on the computer because I need to study.
=~= I think it's okay, not too tough, not too easy. Thanks for asking. You said that your exam will be start at next month, I believe my next thrid semester will start at next month as well. How time flies. (_ _)
Woo, two in, three more to go, lol :D Are your exams over? Can you search for some 1980s inspired themes? Here's what I found: Look at the fonts, lol, Another one. But the thing is, these are Americas in the 1980s, not Japan. Will you be able to gather information on 1980s Japan?
Yeah, my exam is over. Just now I searched a theme for 1980s, the pattern looks very simple, but it really brings out the 1980s feeling because the way they used the color is suited to our topic. Your fonts also looking good, especially the digitized one (which makes me think about the Pacman game XD)! But there's another theme which often appears at opening theme and ending theme we can use, I wonder you have noticed that before, when you watch it there are some falling stars with stripe at the background.
But it doesn't matter they're in America theme or Japan theme. I can see that the 1980s Japan still greatly influenced from the western countries, especially America. Even some of the Urusei Yatusra themes are in English like Remember My Love! :3
That pattern is so 1980s! Yeah, the font used is that of Pacman's, lol. Stars, as in Lum no Love Song OP? We could use that, but I don't know where we can get a HQ image of the stars :(
You're right. Japan was greatly influenced by the Western culture. I watched a documentary on NHK World a few months back, and learned that they tried to adapt a lot of things for use among the commoners in Japan :D
I'm fine as well, thanks Ryoga-kun! I remembered wrong my holidays, supposed will be started at 21/10/13, but I taken it as next week. Luckily my friend obtained the latest timetable and informed me via SMS. XP
Hey Sango-chan! Long time no talk. I was thinking of putting the wiki up for a 'makeover', but for that we need to make sure that the stub pages are low in number and also that all pages are categorized. What do you think? We can also put it up for a spotlight after that, which will bring in more editors.
Hello Ryoga-kun, yeah, long time no see again. XD I agree with the "makeover" that suggested by you. I think it's better to put a spotlight after we check all the pages are in proper categories and adding stubs. (Seriously I dunno what should I edit in here because the most common pages like list of characters, list of media [...] are already exist.)
Let's start with Special:Shortpages first. All articles with size less than 200 bytes are stubs. They should be cut down in number. Next, we can take a look at Special:UncategorizedPages and add them to categories. Lol, I'm stuck deciding what to edit too. I've started doing some Chapter articles because they're much easier than episodes :D Let me know of your thoughts regarding the Shortpages and Uncategorizedpages. Talk to you soon :)
Hey Sango-chan! I would like to expand Ozuno's article, so can you tell me if he appears in a lot of chapters or just a few? Also, the Wiki's font - Microsoft YaHei, it's a Chinese font, right? The rest of the text appears in Times New Roman to me, so can we change it as well?
Html font in MediaWiki:Common.css :) You've added Microsoft YaHei, which is a Chinese font. UY wiki does not have any Chinese characters (except for few words in kanji) and so the English text are displayed in Times New Roman, the default font. I don't know if it's just for me though.
Even though this wiki is in English, my opinion is in oder to make something more special than other wikis and attracting more contributers, we must do something special than the others. You see, for example, there are 2 women; one is like to have makeups and wear beautiful cloths and the other one doesn't like. When you see both of them, you must have more interests on seeing a woman with beautiful appearance than the normal one. Just like you see Kyoko-chan for real. :P
I notice a lot of anime wikis often do Given then Family in terms of first/last, family is first here though. I gotta make sure to remember that.
I find if we do open with given names, it really gives an added value to family categories though since they can order by the surname which one normally can't do when categories organize by given names.
Seeing as how most people remember the given names more often, having them first makes them easier to find in a category listing. Especially since many characters only have a single (presumably given) name.
Yes, I understand what do you imply. Those categories should be in surnames, but those categories werem't created by me other Ryoga, they might be the other users created those pages before I was given rights to become the next admin. I will try to discuss with other admin in this wiki as well. :)
Hi there, few days ago I was discussing this topic with another admin in this wiki. Previously we had another discussion that almost related to this before you sent a message for me. As you suggested, given names are easy to be remembered by most of the fans since those names are mentioned in every occasion, but as you know, UY is an old anime and English dubbed series are fewer than nowadays anime. AnimEigo translated their names by following the original; family names first, then given names. The reasons why admins like us don't wanna change the format are avoiding confussions, and it is the unique point in UY series that other anime wikis don't have, so with the family categories.
Since Sakura doesn't have official family name, we just stick to her given name in title or in family category. And as you know in the InuYasha Wiki, you can see they named Kikyo as "Kikyō". Normally in anime and manga they didn't add specific character, but it's true that "ō" derived from "ou"; Mendou Shuutarou, Shirai Kousuke, Mizunokouji Asuka [...], were used in AnimEigo. :)
Using double vowels rather than single vowel + accent is usually also helpful since we often tend to simply omit accents when typing out names, which can lead to confusion in pronunciation when different kinds of accents are ommitted (like not knowing if it's oo or ou, etc.)
